faq1
Do you design independently or together?

We create our own designs independently, but we offer each other advice on color, fitting, sizing, and accessorizing.

What are your individual strengths?

Our individual approaches define distinctly different components of our overall look. Heather contributes vintage style, designs and color palettes. Jordyn adds the natural forms and organic textures that our line must embrace to reflect Trees' brand identity.

Why is it important that clothing be "green"?

Trees began as a movement, an artistic 'green' movement. The statement of 'green' suggests that there are many opportunities to keep the sustainabiliy of the world in focus as well as the natural beauty and design that it embodies.

faq2
How do traditional manufacturing processes differ from “green” processes?

Plants grown for products like fabric are fertilized with chemical fertilizers that pollute soil and create waste. Most fabric manufacturing companies introduce hormones or vitamins into silk worms to make them grow larger quicker and into sheep to make their wool grow thicker. Dyes are usually created from toxins and bleaches and contaminate soil and water supplies. (We dye our own solid fabrics with organic materials like coffee beans, fruits, flowers, etc.) The process of killing animals in order to use their bodies as raw materials is NOT considered 'green' by any means even if the animal was free to roam and unaltered by chemical processes. Things like bones and horns found from naturally dead animals may be used as buttons or accessories in our work. Traditional manufacturing processes create chemical waste that that damages the environment. Factories that rely on fossil fuels for their power contribute to hydrocarbon productions, global warming and pollution.

faq3
What is the definition of "Green" clothing as interpreted by Trees?

'Green' clothing is either created organically (without the use of chemical or genetic manipulation) or the fabric comes from an environmentally safe material/company. Our fabric is made from all natural fibers Trees carefully researches each vendor and supplier to make sure that they conform to green business practices and that their products are organic and natural.

If clothing is "green" , does it mean that it is more or less durable, more or less allergenic?

Our products are all hand-made. This means that all clothing should be hand washed and dried, but also because exhaust from washing and drying negatively affect the atmosphere. Our clothing is safe for those that have allergies to chemical dyes and additives.

faq4
How does Trees' product compare in quality of manufacture to those of large manufacturers?

Trees Natural Clothing hand-made and crafted , double stitched, and inspected closely, a large clothing company is more likely to single-check their products and have a difficult task in ensuring quality control. We, the owners and designers, are the creators of the final product; this means that everything will turn out how we had planned it to, how we had meant it to be, and, most importantly, how we designed it to be: fashionable and of high quality. We work extremely hard to ensure a lasting product that 'wear' will not fade or create a real wear look. If we believe that the product isn't 100% stable, the piece is properly recycled or taken apart to make something new and even better.

When women wear Trees Natural Clothing, how do you want them to feel?

We would like them to feel elegant and respected. They must remember that they are complimenting the natural beauty of what the Earth has given to them. They are beautiful in their lace and earthy, vintage-looking wardrobe, they are confident and empowered.

faq5a
From a pure fashion standpoint, what defines great design?

A well designed article of clothing should be very special and personal to the wearer. A well designed article of clothing has a personality. A well designed article of clothing should be elegant and bold. We feel that it is essential to the wearer to feel confident, and to feel comfortable in their own skin. An article of clothing should create an emotional reaction, an expression of opinion. Can art be art without creating controversy? Perhaps. But not in our world.
